TESS - Transport Efficiency Support System

Fraport Ground Services uses four versions of a Transport Efficiency Support System – or TESS for short – for different purposes.

TESS 1 is used to control all bus and passenger transport and the jet bridges.

TESS 2 is used for baggage transport, specifically for controlling the drivers. Both containerized and bulk outbound baggage is conveyed on trailers from the baggage areas to aircraft. Inbound baggage is carried from the aircraft to the baggage conveyor systems that end at the baggage claim carousels. Transfer baggage is rerouted back to the outbound process.

TESS 3 is used to control the drivers who move cargo from various sources to aircraft or vice versa.

TESS 4 is used to control the tractors that push aircraft backwards out of their parking positions to the taxiways or tow them to hangars.
